The time I finally cracked speed reading was when I bought a book called Breakthrough Rapid Reading by Peter Kump. Kump is director of a reading consultancy and has taught white house staff how to read quickly.

Plain and simple his method works - I doubled my speed. The secret - a structured approach of 6 weeks of lessons, with daily hour long drills and the author's welcome honesty to tell you that there are no shortcuts - learning to speed read takes time and effort, like anything else.

Having read numerous books on speed reading I can honestly tell you this is the best on the market.

The link by the way http://www.amazon.com/Breakthrough-Rapid-Readin...

I love audiobooks and they are the reason I am "reading" again. I actually like my commute now! I didn't realize the iPod and iPhone could play them at a faster speed, so I'll have to check that out.

iCon is a fascinating read, I highly reccomend it. Other audiobooks I've read recently I'd reccommend off audible -- Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell and Predictably Irrational by Dan Arielly. Both are outstanding in terms of ease of listening and value of information.
